Comparing Areas on Maps

Aegis gives the facility to attach data to maps, and shade areas that the data refers to.

Using Aegis, open the ItalygdpIndex.aed file in the Samples folder.

This viewlet explains how to shade the maps to allow quick and easy comparison.

With the data and the map appearing on the same worksheet, it is fairly easy to find the data requested to make comparisons and conclusions about the economic changes in Italy at these times.

Selecting Particular Areas

By careful selection of the class boundaries it is possible to select certain areas. This exercise calls for the top 3 richest areas to be shaded; by manipulating the class intervals this can be fairly easily done, as shown here.

Comparative Charts

Using Aegis, open the file ItalyEmployment.aed (download it if you need to).  This exercise calls for comparisons of trends in employment data.  This viewlet show how to create comparative charts by region.
